Short Description

The NanoOne is a 3D printer to manufacture components in the size ranging from few micrometers up to the 2-digit millimeter range. Using 2-photon polymerization of photosensitive materials, models can be printed with a resolution of up to 100nm (depending on the selected writing lens). As a basis for the print, common "stl" files are used. The printer can be used to print in standard microtiter plates, Petri dishes and cover glasses. Besides the production of biomimetic surfaces and phantoms for different imaging techniques, applications in the microfluidic field are in focus.

Research Services

This 3D printing system can be used for the production of parts ranging from 200nm to several millimeters in size. It is is offered as part of the "Service for Researchers" available at the Medical University of Vienna. For the use of this technology, an initial contact for feasibility and clarification of open questions is required.

Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

The research group "Additive Manufacturing for Medical Research" represents the first contact from planning and implementing projects. It consists of biomedical engineers (mechanics/electronics) and material engineers. For specific problems, colleagues from almost all fields of physics and technology can be involved in the interdisciplinary work at the Center for Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering and within the Medical University of Vienna.
