Short Description

SCE test bench for testing a wide range of engine configurations for conventional and future fuels (e.g. hydrogen, methanol, ammonia, e-fuels, etc.) and fuel blends.

Key features:
- Max. power 700 kW / max. torque 5,500 Nm
- Fast conversion to different SCE configurations ranging from 3 l to 50 l displacement per cylinder
- Extensive fuel infrastructure for test operations with all relevant fuels
- Multi-component gas mixing unit for test runs with special gases
- Highly dynamic operation and endurance runs of up to 500 h

Research Services

• Development of combustion concepts for all relevant fuels
• Detailed analyses of combustion-related phenomena using special measuring equipment (optical investigations, heat transfer measurement, etc.)
• Testing of hardware components such as FIE, bearings, pistons, etc.
• Thermal surveys and detailed investigations of the tribological system (application of in-house telemetry system and customized sensors)
• Lube oil testing (LOC, FMEP, detailed oil analysis, etc.)
• Testing of exhaust gas after-treatment systems
• …
