Das Gerät besteht aus einer Zentraleinheit mit Steuermodul und Infrarotgasanalysator und drei sich automatisch öffnenden/schließenden Kammern - zwei davon sind transparent, eine nicht. Mit dem System kann die Bodenatmung bzw. für kurze Vegetation auch die Ökosystematmung bzw. die Nettoprimärproduktion gemessen werden
