Short Description

The single-photon detection system consists of a “Single Quantum Eos 800 CS” closed-cycle cryostat with a water-cooled helium compressor and "Atlas" driver electronics. It is equipped with single-photon detectors for the telecom O-band around 1310 nm and the C-band around 1550 nm. The detectors are based on superconducting nanowires (SNSPDs) and are further optimized for a low dark count rate. The system is vibration-damped and supplemented by a turbopump station as well as “Time Tagger Ultra” correlation electronics from “Swabian Instruments.” It enables the acquisition of time-resolved and -correlated photon statistics and is connected via fiber optics to corresponding luminescence (spectroscopy) setups. In conjunction, the single-photon detection system is primarily used to characterize the properties of quantum light sources emitting in the telecommunications wavelength range based on Group IV semiconductors.
