Short Description

The Gill HS-100 is a three-axis ultrasonic anemometer designed to measure wind speed and direction in three dimensions. It utilizes non-contact ultrasonic sensing to provide high-frequency data, allowing for the calculation of turbulent fluxes and gas exchange. The device features a robust, weather-resistant construction suitable for continuous outdoor deployment. The HS-100 is fully ICOS-compliant, meeting the technical specifications required for integration into the Integrated Carbon Observation System network for high-precision greenhouse gas monitoring.

Research Services

Scientific cooperation is possible. Interested researchers and/or institutions, kindly contact Eugenio Diaz-Pines for further information.

Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

The sonic anemometer is used in combination with a closed-path analyzer installed above the forest canopy to estimate CO2 and water vapor exchange rates between the forest and the atmosphere using the eddy covariance approach.
