Short Description

The Weather radar is a dual polarized 9.4 GH7 Radar. It allows 3-dimensional scanning of precipitation events (rain, snow and ice) with a horizontal resolution of better than 50m. The goal is mobile us to investigate atmospheric structures under special boundary conditions (natural disaster).

Because of the dual polarized operation, the physics of precipitation development as well as the 3-dimensional processes behind can be studied. The small weight (70 kg) makes fast and flexible deployment in the whole area of Austria possible.

In the context with numerical simulation, the description of complex atmospheric process and their consequence will be possible.
