Technical University of Vienna

Wien | Website

Open for Collaboration

Short Description

reposiTUm provides direct access to all of TU Wien's open access publications. Apart from documents produced by members of the university, this also includes works by external persons that were created, written or promoted at TU Wien or using TU Wien infrastructures.

reposiTUm serves to make the digital collections of TU Wien Bibliothek permanently accessible worldwide, thus making a valuable contribution to research and the preservation of cultural heritage. It includes all current types of publication, secondary publications (preprints and postprints), university theses and other TU Wien grey literature, as well as the library's digital collections.

By meeting the requirements of the university's intellectual capital statement, the Open Access platform reposiTUm also serves as a referencing tool for the entire academic publication output of TU Wien. The platform combines a full-featured institutional repository with a comprehensive publications database, making it easier for researchers to capture, showcase, and freely distribute their scientific work. In 2022, all metadata from the predecessor system, which had been in place since the 1990s, were integrated.

Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

reposiTUm is operated in cooperation. TU Wien Bibliothek is responsible for the Open Access platform, the service unit Research Information Systems for metadata without full texts, Campus Software Development is in charge of the technical infrastructure (open source software DSpace-CRIS).

All OA documents are checked by TU Wien Bibliothek prior to release and are given permanent addresses such as Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) in reposiTUm to ensure findability and citability. The metadata are curated by TU Wien Bibliothek in accordance with national and international standards and delivered to various library catalogues, research tools and search engines.
