Short Description

The fluorescence spectrometer is used for the detection and analysis of fluorescence probes. This instrument allows high stray light rejection for high sensitivity using a double monochromator set-up with a single computer controlled intermediate slit set to the monochromator’s bandwidth. The microliter fluorescence sample-handling device supports steady-state and time-resolved measurements of nanogram to microgram quantities in 1-5 µL of sample volume.

Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

The fluorescence spectrometer is used to characterize newly synthesized compounds as well as to monitor reactions in solution. Specifically, fluorescent compounds are synthesized that bind specifically to an analyte and thus allow a selective and sensitive detection of analytes. On the other hand, reaction kinetics are evaluated by detection of the fluorescence signal over time.
