Short Description

The Fast Confocal FRET System enables detection of protein-protein interactions in living cells, with high time resolution and in a dynamic manner. The read-out is based on the Förster-Resonance-Energy-Transfer (FRET) between fluorescent-tagged proteins. The system is established for cyan and yellow fluorescent proteins (CFP and YFP).

Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

The Fast Confocal FRET System enables detection of dynamic protein-protein interactions in living cells, and is applied here onto the analysis of key proteins of the immune system, i.e. STIM and Orai proteins. Manipulation of these proteins via light is currently investigated.
