Short Description

The Seifert X-ray diffractometer XRD 3003 TT for phase analysis of crystalline materials is designed as a full protection device.
The X-ray generator can be operated in the range of 2 - 60 kV and 2 - 80 mA (max. 3.5 KW).
The goniometer in Bragg-Brentano geometry has an angular resolution of 0.0005° 2Θ and works with a fixed sample holder. The instrument has an automatic divergence slit, a sample changer with sample rotation and a secondary monochromator. A scintillation detector is used to record the X-ray reflexes. A primary monochromator can be adapted for high resolution purposes.

Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

The X-ray powder diffractometer is used for the analysis of crystalline powder samples (e.g. minerals, rocks, building materials, preparations).
Powder diffraction is a standard method in geosciences. The diffraction diagrams provide information on the type of phases present (mineral identification), their crystal structure (structure analysis), their quantitative fraction in a sample mixture (quantitative analysis) as well as texture effects and sample quality.
