Short Description

System for physical simulations of thermomechanical processes on metals

Contact Person

Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Kurt Caloun

Research Services

Simulation of hot forming or welding processes, determination of thermal-physical material parameters, thermal shock tests, heat treatments, thermal cycling tests

Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

The Gleeble® 3500 GTC system is applied mainly for physical simulation on metallic materials at an arbitrary combination of mechanical and thermal loads with high strain and heating rates.

Possible/typical are tension and compression tests on specimen with flat or round cross section - at static and/or dynamic (low cycle fatigue tests) loads - with or without additional thermal load. Sole thermal cycling tests or heat treatment simulations. Recording of stress vs. strain curves.
