Open for Collaboration

Short Description

The FT-I04 Femto-Indenter is a high-resolution nanomechanical testing system capable of accurately quantifying the mechanical and tribological properties of materials at the micro- and nanoscale. The FT-I04 Femto-Indenter can be used for the mechanical testing of metals, ceramics, thin films and coatings, as well as more compliant microstructures such as metamaterials.

Research Services

- nanoindentation for evaluating mechanical parameters such as H, E, KC
- CSM nanoindentation
- micro mechanical testing

Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

Nanoindentation for analyzing mechanical properties (hardness [H], modulus of elasticity [E], fracture toughness [KC], etc.) on the smallest scale! CSM also allows "mass indentation" approaches, where microstructural components can be visualized in H and E using a large number of measuring points. The indentation system can also be used in a variety of ways for micromechanical tests - e.g. pillar compression or cantilever bending!
