Austrian participation and research infrastructure activities
The European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) is a strategic and advisory body that provides guidance and promotes the development of research infrastructures across Europe.
ESFRI was established in 2002 by the Council of Ministers of the European Union. The aim of ESFRI is to identify and prioritise pan-European research infrastructures of strategic importance and to support their development through a roadmap process.

Research infrastructures, which are on the roadmap of the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI), are seen as particularly important for the generation of new knowledge and innovation, as well as for collaboration and further development for the European Research Area (ERA).
ESFRI has a crucial role in the coordination and cooperation between European countries, research organisations and stakeholders involved in the development and operation of research infrastructures.
