Methods & Expertise for Research Infrastructure

The "Salzburg Music Historical Collections" are compiled in an archive of the Department of Music and Dance Studies at the University of Salzburg. This archive not only makes the estates of renowned Salzburg artists available to the public for research purposes, but since 2014 it has also made it its task to explore the topic of artistic migration in the musicological context.

The goal of this initiative is to archive the estates of renowned artists and make them accessible to researchers for scholarly examination and study. Since the 'Salzburg Music History Collections' are affiliated with the Department of Music and Dance Studies, there is not only the opportunity to catalog the estates, but the generation of scientific knowledge about these collections can be directly integrated into research and teaching activities. Prof. Dr. Nils Grosch is, among other things, specifically dealing with artistic migration through the music of the 19th to 21st centuries as part of a research focus.
